MURDER #2 EVIDENCE
MURDER#2: Victim #2 was killed February 1, 2001
in 2001 Marlon Brown's first video statement to Kansas City, Missouri officers was that "he did not see Steve with a gun." Marlon Brown was subpoended to court and told by federal agents if he "didn't testify against Steve Wright, Jr.,  he would be held in jail until he cooperated." also right before Stev's trial Anthony Conway, was brought into custody for possession of carrying a concealed weapon. Anthony was interviewed and exchanged for a time cut if he claimed that the deceased implemented Steve as being one of the robbers during the course of taken him to the hospital. This is strange since Steve wasn't apart of the plot and away from the scene when this guy was even robbed. From the beginning A.C. declined to talk about this matter to the officials. This came about the same month Steve was to go to trial. Marlon Brown grew up with the  victim. Marlon gives details of a robbery that he, Michael Burks (the deceased), "suspect 1" and "suspect 2" plotted. From Marlon Brown's statement, "they plotted to rob a guy named "AC" on the streets." Mr. Brown said, "he and Michael Burks informed "suspect 1" and "suspect 2" that "AC" had a large sum of money. Brown further told agents, "suspect 2" and Steve were riding in one car and he, Michael Burks, and "suspect 1" were in another car." Brown then stated,  "During the plotting of the robbery, "suspect 2" got out of his car and got in the car with the threesome,  and they began plotting the robbery." It is reported that Steve was in another car asleep.  Marlon Brown further stated, "suspect 2" got back in the car with Steve and they left the scene where the robbery was to take place." Marlon Brown stated, "when "suspect 2" and Steve (Moody) left, he assumed "suspect 2" was getting impatient because "AC" hadn't arrived yet, but "suspect 2 actually left to drop off (Moody)." According to Marlon Brown, "while "suspect 2" was gone to drop off  Moody, "AC" showed up and the robbery took place."  "AC" and a friend with him was shot." Further Marlon Brown said,  "Michael Burks got in the back seat of the car with "AC" and his friend to make a purchase (this is part of the plot) then "suspect 1" drove up and shot inside the car." "AC" and his friend was shot." Michael Burks took the victims to the hospital." Marlon Brown further stated, "on his way to the hospital, Micheal Burks called "suspect 2" and told "suspect 2" to pick him up immediately from the hospital. On the way to drop off Steve, suspect 2 detoured to pick up Burks.  "suspect 2" picked up Michael Burks from the hospital, then they went to a young lady's apartment to meet up with "suspect 1" and (himself) Marlon Brown. Marlon Brown stated, "that everyone was in the kitchen discussing the previous incident while Burks was in another room changing clothes" "They were now plotting to kill Michael Burks because they felt he "ratted" them out when he took the victims to the hospital." Marlon Brown then stated, "Moody was in the kitchen, but didn't say nothing at all." The young lady who resided at the apartment testified "Moody was not in the kitchen but  in the front room on the couch." Brown further stated,  "Everyone leaves the apartment, except the young lady." Marlon Brown then stated, "Michael Burks said he believed he knew where "AC" keeps his money." Brown further stated, "when they arrived to the house, "suspect 2" got in the car with Marlon Brown, Michael Burks, and "suspect 1." "Suspect 2 gave him (Marlon) a gun, but once they went to the door," according to Brown, he "refused and gave the gun to Burks." Brown then stated,  "Moody got in the driver's seat of suspect 2 car. "Moody" was getting ready to drive off" "Moody and "suspect 2" began to argue and Moody became impatient because he had asked "suspect 2" to take him home hours earlier." After the robbery, Brown stated, Michael Burks said "he hid some money and drugs in another location." "Suspect 1" and Marlon Brown drove Michael Burks to the location." "Suspect 2" and Moody followed." Brown told agents, "Burks got back in the car with "suspect 1" and Brown, and they went to a second location where Burks said he had some more money and drugs." "Suspect 2" gets out of his vehicle and told "suspect 1" to kill Burks a second time." Brown stated, "when Burks returned to the car, "suspect 1" shot Burks 6 or 7 times and Burks fell." "Suspect 2" pulled up beside the car "suspect 1" was in and shot Burks 1 time in the head."

In 2004, Brown stated to the (GRAND JURY) the same story he told officers in 2001, except he NOW stated "he had seen Steve with a gun." He further stated, "Steve gave suspect 2 the gun to kill Burks with."In 2006, during the trial, when cross examined, Steve's attorney asked, "how do you know Steve gave suspect 2 a gun if you were in a different car?" Brown replied, "I assumed Moody gave him a gun because it was a different gun suspect 2 had earlier." Steve's lawyer asked  Brown "does he know if the gun was laying down or did suspect 2 get the gun earlier?" Brown stated, "I don't know." Steve did not have any reason to give "suspect 2" a gun. According to Brown's initial statement, "Steve did not play a part in the robberies or the murder."  In 2001, "suspect 1" and "suspect 2" were charged and pled guilty to the murder of Michael Burks. They did not implicate Steve Wright as playing a part of the murder of Michael Burks.
Steve's lawyer never contact  suspect1 or 2 to testify on Steve's behalf to prove to Steve's innocence in this crime. The suspects tried to contact Steve's lawyer many times, but the lawyer never replied. Here recently both suspects signed and gave sworn affidavit that Steve never possessed a gun during that night nor participated in the crime.

Steve as well as our family extend our deepest sympathy to the families of Victim #2 and pray that God continues to give them strength. We pray that justice is righteously served.
