THE INMATES AT "WORK"
CONSPIRACY:
The government claimed Steve Wright and others conspired to distribute drugs. During this period, the government used car stops as evidence as the conspiracy. There was never any drugs or evidence found on Steve to support the government's theory. Further, when officers found drugs there were only individual charges and only small amounts of drugs recovered. In  November 2002, an individual named John Robert's mother's house was raided. Roberts was already on house arrest for drug charges. Drugs were found in Roberts' mom's home and he was arrested. John Roberts original statement to officers was, he "got the drugs from an Esse." A hispanic male is referred as an Esse. After 8 months into his incarceration, John Roberts began to tell agents "Steve brought the drugs to his mom's house the night before."

In the same statement,  Roberts told police "Steve killed a young man named Reginald Blake." Strangely, Blake was in the car with Gerald Johnson (witness #1). The incident took place on March 5 2000. Roberts testified, "Gerald Johnson was the target because he was a "snitch". Oddly, Roberts testified that Wright attempted to kill Johnson in March 2000; however, Johnson is the same man the government allowed to testify against Wright in the Victim # 1 murder that took place in June 2000. It is not likely that Steve would attempt to murder Gerald Johnson for "snithcing" in March 2000, and then 3 months later, plot a robbery and murder with him. While in CCA, John Roberts told Rodney Anderson (who was a neighbor, but they labeled one another as cousins) about the murder of Reginald Blake. Roberts and Anderson began to concaucting a story and said, "Wright did the murders." Roberts used Wright because it was known that Wright was a governmnet target.  According to an eye witness (the driver of the vehicle) John Roberts murdered Reginald Blake. This witness took a polygraph to this statement and passed the polygraph test. This information was available, but was not brought up or taken into consideration, because like other information pointing to the innocence of Steve go against deception of the prosecutor. Blake's  family was invited to attend Steve's trial. Steve was not charged in the Reginald Blake murder, but these testimonies from Roberts led to the indictment of Steve in October 2003. Also, Mr. Roberts testified that Steve shot an hispanic male. After the shooting, the victim did not identify Steve Wright in a line up. Further, during the trial, the victim stated, "he never saw Steve in his life." However, Steve was convicted from the statement of John Roberts.

John Roberts was in a holding facility, Correctional Corporation of America (CCA), while Steve was awaiting trial. CCA is a common place, where inmates discuss information about individuals' cases and they obtain false material to give to the government so they can receive a time reduction. Many of the CCA inmates began implementing themselves with the individual the government is interested in and CCA inmates become fully aware that they can get a downward departure (sentence reduction), even if the information is falsified. This is an example of "Jumping on a case", which supposed to be illegal, but inmates are rewarded for their erroneous testimonies. As a result, this is what Mr. Roberts and other CCA inmates began to do to Steve. Piggy backing off John Roberts, individuals from CCA "Jumped On" Steve's case from 2003-2006. These inmates testified against Steve and many of them he did not know nor had ever seen.
